This week we will begin continue learning about energy and its many forms and uses, as well as learning about Native people of Colorado with a focus on timelines. We will continue reading "My Side of the Mountain" to learn about inferences, and learning about mental math strategies.
This week's vocabulary:
consequently, especially, stately, mess, hypnotize, refract, vibrate
This week's learning targets:
- I can draw inferences about setting, character, plot, and support my inferences with details from the text
- I can identify the reasons and evidence that the author uses to support statements
- I can compare and contrast light and sound energy
- I can use transition words and phrases in my writing
- I can construct a timeline of events from Colorado history
- I can summarize important events in sequence using transition words and phrases
Math
- 4th I can use the standard algorithm and place value to add multi-digit numbers
- 4th I can use the standard algorithm and place value to subtract whole numbers
- 4th I can use number sense and regrouping to subtract from numbers with zero
- 4th I can make sense of quatities and relationships in problem solving
- 5th I can use mental math to solve addition and subtraction problems
- 5th I can estimate sums and differences of decimals
- 5th I can model sums and differences of decimals
Things to remember:
-Look at and sign your students planner. This is a great time to ask them about the day's learning target
