This week we will be finishing up setting reading goals for conferencing purposes, as well as working on spelling, grammar, writing short responses to science and social studies learning targets, beginning our first novel study of "My Side of the Mountain," and learning to write summaries.

- I can write a summary with a topic sentence, transitions, three or more details, and a conclusion
- I can use the reading strategy "Check for Understanding"
- I can describe different regions of Colorado

Things to remember:
-Look at and sign your students planner. This is a great time to ask them about the day's learning target

- September 15 is a whole school trip to Buckhorn Camp
- September 22- 4th and 5th graders travel to Centennial Village for a view of Colorado history
- September 23 - No School
